Time Out for Women!

Every once and a while girls need some girl time. So my friends Rebecca, Maria and me got away for the weekend to Oklahoma City for Time Out for Women which is sponsored by Deseret Book Company. If you have ever been to Education week at BYU this is a little mini one of that, and it is great! We were up-lifted, reassured (that we are normal) and edified. Plus the 5 hour drive to and from proved to be great therapy for life's problems. Definitely worth the time and money. Check out Deseret Book online for the next Time Out and the places they have them, you'll love it.

While we were there we got the visit the Oklahoma City Bombing National Memorial site. In 1995 the federal building was bombed by American terrorist Timothy McVay. 168 innocent people lost there lives there. The memorial site honors those whose lives were lost. Each person who died there has a chair with his or her name on it, they are set in nine rows representing the nine floors of the building. There are 19 small chairs representing the children who died. During the day the chairs look like they float because the base is glass but at night they light up to represent beacons of hope. It was a humbling place to visit. We were able to visit with a woman who lost here daughter there, she had a very touching story to tell that made us all thankful for our lives, our families and especially the gospel and the knowledge that we have of our purpose here and for the life after.
